The Proposal

We saw this film last weekend, and so did a lot of other people; it was the #1 movie in America, and Sandra Bullock's biggest opening weekend ever. Needless to say, when it comes to romantic comedies like this one, Brooke is much better qualified to critique it. Anything I say about these kinds of movies typically ends up sounding either sarcastic or unreasonable. For example, phrases I might use to describe this movie include "predictable", which sounds as though I'm saying it wasn't any good. But that's not true! It was was just predictable. And lots of movies are predictable, but they can still be good.

If you've seen a lot of recent romantic comedies, you'll find yourself in familiar--oops! that sounds like "predictable"!--territory. There are scenes either reminicent or downright ripped off of How To Loose A Guy In Ten Days, 27 Dresses, and The Devil Wears Prada, just to name a few. But, as usual, Sandra Bullock is a good actress and is able to make you laugh.

And, this movie is clean enough to recommend to church friends. We give it two thumbs up--and one of those thumbs is mine.
