Has any movie studio ever had a more consistent record of film excellence and box office success than Disney/Pixar? Think about it: Toy Story 3 follows in the footsteps of the first two installments, and those are pretty big shoes to fill. And then there are Cars, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up...The list goes on and on! They may put out a bomb one day (to the dismay of everyone who likes going to the movie theater), but Toy Story 3 is not it.
Instead, we have a film that starts strong and finishes even stronger. It's made for children with its colors, smiles, and imaginative action, but made for adults with its commentary on time, the local landfill, and what it means to grow up. It's already been a week since it opened, but if you haven't seen it, you should: it's one of the few movies coming out this summer that have (or will) actually live up to your lofty expectations.
