Hanna

This film debuted in April; we didn't see it until November. But that's okay. The very well done initial scenes, filmed on-location in a snowy, frigid Scandanavian wonderland, probably would have been even more memorable seeing them on an enormous screen in a theater. But as the film follows the title character (a favorite, Saoirse Ronan) onward to more civilized places, a smaller screen in a living room does just fine. This film is more about frenetic searches, mysterious personalities and violent ends than about an air-tight plot, but it is satisfying enough just to watch Hanna put to good use her awesome skills as she tries to answer that puzzling question: "Who am I, really?" Eric Bana doesn't do all that much, and when Cate Blanchett appears--and talks!--you don't know whether to run and hide or laugh out loud. If you check this one out, don't fret about making sense of the story, just enjoy the sights and sounds! (Brooke B-, Grant B)
